Watch Out: How Item Upgrade Is Taking Over And What You Can Do About It

The stats of an item are improved through upgrading it, also referred to as "upping". Each upgrade increment increases a stat linearly.

Players can recycle six items at once to get a gauge of the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases with their rarity and item level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade to an item is a method to increase the stats of your armor and weapons. This can be done through a number of means, including using upgrade components and upgrading an item's mark level or rarity. A lot of items can be reforged to boost their value.

Upgradable items can be found in the game, both in the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be crafted by players. The most common method of upgrading equipment is through the use of upgrade components which are items that can be inserted into equipment. Most equipment comes with upgrade slots, and the majority require a certain level of upgrade. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while others offer a general bonus.

There are a variety of upgrade components available in the game, including universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments, can be placed on any kind of equipment and offer lower bonuses than equipment-specific upgrades. Glyphs can only be placed in gathering tools and provide a variety of bonuses, ranging from increasing the speed at which an item gathers to supplying additional crafting materials.

To upgrade an item, select it in your inventory and open the Upgrade window. The window will show a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected stats are after the upgrade, as well as any necessary components or materials. The Upgrade button at the bottom will be labeled as Blocked if you don't have enough of either.

The upper-right corner shows the number of upgrade components needed for an item. The cost of an upgrade increases depending on the rarity and level of the item. However you can lower this cost by purchasing upgrades from a seller, or trading them with other players.

Most weapons can be improved with a prefix, such as a rune, or an insignia. Some can be enhanced by adding a suffix. These upgrades alter the name of the item to add an adjective, like "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor. There are some exceptions, however. the non-inscribable weapons, such as foci and shields from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which cannot be upgraded with any kinds of mods at all.

Glyphs

Glyphs are a powerful tool to communicate visual information. They animate to capture the attention of the viewer and stimulate interest in the brain. The glyphs' animation mimics the body language and makes them more effective in transmitting the message of a language barrier. Glyphs also evoke a sense of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.

Each glyph can increase the value of a stat by a certain range. This is shown on the item, when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This isn't the exact amount at which glyphs can improve a stat, but the maximum amount by which it can do so. The value of the glyph will depend on the tier and the quality of the item that you are admiring.

Most upgrade components inserted into items can't be replaced or salvaged without dismantling the gear in question, unless it is legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a glyph or rune you don't want to use but it's not been applied to gear yet, you can move the item to a different piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.

If you want to remove a glyph from a piece of you must save it using an Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.  item upgrader  where the glyph is installed will be destroyed, however the upgraded item can be recovered with the glyph shards.

A glyph added to an item could cause it to be unstable, and the shards of the glyph will disappear from your inventory once you remove the item. You can also add an inscription on your equipment to increase its value. Deferred Damage, for example can be used to store damage and be distributed slowly to the wearer instead of all at once. This can be helpful for players who take a lot of damage from their enemies however do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens allow players to change the affixes of their weapons and equipment, and they can be obtained in a variety of ways such as in mistery boxes or as rare drops from skulled creatures, or even from killing bosses. Each reroll provides the player with a random affix that is usually better than what they had before. Reroll tokens can be used to boost the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses.

Items that have been rerolled do not appear in the upgrade menu, but they still qualify to receive upgrades. These rerolled items are able to be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button, which changes the layout of the item window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. Recycling an item adds small amount of points to its gauge of level. The amount is by the rarity of the item and also its level. Thus, items with higher levels are more valuable for recycling than lower-leveled ones.

In addition to reroll tokens, players can make use of Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to reroll the weapon traits of an upgraded unit. Rerolls are based on a % chance to determine a weapon's trait. If it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower, the weapon remains unchanged. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.

Rerolls are a good option to upgrade an item, but players should be aware that it could lower the overall ilvl of the weapon due to the number of rerolls used to increase the weapon to its ultimate ilvl. This effect is most noticeable on Rings and Diadems since they have no other options to raise the ilvl.

Players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It's better to allow players to pay for it with cash or food items which would allow them to make changes to their builds without having to spend excessive amounts of time. The developers do not plan to offer paid rerolls in this point in the game's development. Instead, they're planning include a race change potion in the future.

Leveling

There are several ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the upgrade amount, which increases the value of upgrading the stat. The second option is to increase the impact of the upgrade, which boosts damage or healing for an individual stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. The upgraded item will maintain its iLevel, but be upgraded to reflect the effects of the upgraded item.

It is important to remember that upgrades are random. In most cases a better roll is determined by glyphs. However there are instances when a more or unique roll could occur. The type of item will determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a unique or rare item to a specific item type, then it has a chance of gaining an upper level.

The cost of upgrading items can be expensive, particularly when you're upgrading a piece of equipment from a standard to the legendary track. The cost will depend on the item's iLevel base and the amount of upgrade levels it has. In addition, some upgrade tracks require crests in order to get to the next upgrade level.

If you're lucky the upgraded item will reach the highest level on its upgrade track and unlock an additional benefit. This will provide the item with a significant upgrade value. The bonus effect changes with each upgrade level. In general, the upgrade effect is increased a value of +3.

The iLevel also changes according to the upgrade path and base level. For instance an item that has been upgraded from a rare or unique item to an exceptional one is likely to gain the Enhanced Defence of the new base item.
